We are very happy to welcome artist and writer Simon Linington to Haarlem Artspace for a research trip/micro-residency as part of our Pollinator project.
Simon Linington is an artist and writer working primarily in site-specific sculpture. Taking inspiration from the sand-art souvenirs found in his native Isle of Wight, Simon makes multi-layered work, collecting and classifying materials found on location, often grinding down rocks that become the geological strata in his sculpture.
Pollinator is a series of residencies, retreats, presentations and get-togethers aimed at creating connections between artists, curators and institutions, sharing networks, skill sets and opportunities and, hopefully, sparking ideas and inspiration. We are currently inviting artists to visit Wirksworth its surroundings to study the incredible geology, history and pre-history of the area and working to create links and opportunities for the artists in our Haarlem ‘family’ with galleries and art scenes across the UK.
